The X-TEND® stainless steel mesh is custom made to each order specification to suit your balustrade, railing or barrier application. Therefore the product always meets your individual requirements. When incorporating X-TEND® mesh into your application, careful consideration should be made when deciding the following:

Cable Diameter

Stainless steel cable diameters of 1mm, 1.5mm, 3mm and 4mm are available to produce the required mesh. This factor is chosen to suit the desired level of ‘transparency’ or ‘load bearing’ strength.

Mesh Aperture/ Width

Along with the cable diameter the mesh width contributes to the aesthetics such as the level of transparency therefore the larger the width the more transparent it will be. Another consideration is the climbing ability, which should be taken into account especially in public places. Our mesh widths range from 24mm to 300mm.

Connections/ Ferrules

Mesh connections (ferrules) are available in nickel plated copper, or highly aesthetic stainless steel for premium applications or where resistance to corrosion is a driving factor.

Mesh Orientation

Mesh can be applied in either a vertical or horizontal direction, again dependent on the application design and the required aesthetics.

Border Fixings

Carl Stahl X-TEND® mesh needs to be secured in place with either border cables or perimeter tubes. These transfer the force exerted around the complete perimeter of the flexible mesh panel to the supporting structure, balustrade or railing. Border cables deflect in response to this force adding unique and elegant form to the application. Where aesthetics demand a more linear or regular mesh panel free of deflection, then the mesh can be laced to a rod or tubular frame.
